Hey, Family! It's Kyra posting from the Uprising account :) I just wanted to be the first to start us off this 2012-2013 school year. I noticed that no one has posted for a while. Soooo here I am bringing us back. Let's utilize this blog to keep contact with one another and give updates as we all are located on different campuses and parts of the WORLD. I love you all so much! Get in [Spiritual] Shape!
Hello beautiful WoG (Women of God),
As I settle in London I am reflecting on the fact that I'll be another semester away from each of you. Hope all is well and that those of you who are graduating soon are feeling excited and energized to finish strong.
A couple of weeks ago I watched a powerful poem called Sexual Healing, and this afternoon I watched one called Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus by a young man. I decided to do some further research on him and found his website which has some wonderful articles/videos/tools for "spiritual shaping."
When you have some time check out http://chiselseason.com/?cat=20

Where Y'all At?!!!!!!!!!!
Was reading through the blog posts and comments and decided I missed you guys! where are you?! oh n also have this amazing DVD to show you when we get back. Its a play about Joseph filmed live at the sight and sounds theater in Pennsylvania (went there yesterday. Honestly, if u know me, you know I continually say I want to go around the US in 80 days or one summer in an RV. God is seriously taking me around the US y'all. This summer turned out NUTHIN like I planned but its been great :) ) Anyways, I hoped you will be blessed by the video (when we watch it). Oh and this is crazy but if you want to, we could do a 2 or 3 day trip to Missouri during spring break (if no one has any alternate plans that is/ if we are not doing mission work). They have a theater there and we could go catch a show and have a mini-road trip all rolled in one. Isn't that exciting?! will ttyl! luv ya loads! going back to bed. caio!

Update on Lisa (in Ghana)
Hey, Fam! I got an email from Lisa Gano updating her time in Ghana thus far. Before she left she asked me to keep the Uprising family posted as well. So, here is the first email of the summer from Ghana. Keep her in prayer as well as Uloma. I love u ladies! Hope to see some of you before we start school again...
Dear Family and Friends,
Very warm greetings to you from a 7-computer internet cafe in Kumasi, Ghana!! I have been in Ghana since last Wednesday, and I have been completely blown away by the generosity and hospitality of our Ghanaian hosts! Since the moment we stepped out of the airport we have been taken care of extremely well, being proved with delicious food, safe drinking water, transportation and great company in our down-time (there are two four-year olds living in the house where we are staying who keep us very entertained!)
Today, we completed our first full week of construction and teaching at the Amazing Grace Preparatory School. We have so far taken the tin roofing and most of the beams off of the kindergarten roof, and the carpenters are starting to nail together the structure for the new roof. I have also been assigned to teach the 5th grade class. We only have 45 minutes a day with our classes, so we have played some games, but I have done much teaching yet. We ride the school bus with the children in the morning (imagine about 60 schoolchildren in a 35-seat school bus!!! :) ) and come back after lunch for a much-needed nap time.
I am AMAZED at how much faith the Ghanaian people have! It is very refreshing to be in a place where God is so much a art of everyday life. e.g. when you are asked, "how are you,'' the correct response is "by God's grace, I am well." this has been very refreshing for me, especially after a particularly taxing and spiritually dry senior year.
Payer requests:
Take care, and much love!

Payer requests:
- Rejuvenation - that God would continue the work he is doing to draw me closer to him and fill me with more of his love
- Wisdom and insight - specifically for knowing how to be a witness of God's love to my 5th grade class
- Re-Centering - that, while I am here, I would be reminded that I am a servant of the Lord, and to live for God's Glory
- Deeper relationships - with my teammates and the Ghanaians I have met so far
Take care, and much love!
Lisa
